When Dr. Paul Crouch, founder of Trinity Broadcasting Network, began making plans to expand the world’s largest religious broadcaster into locales around the world, the area known for over 70 years as the Soviet Union was a priority. Here was a country whose people had been oppressed beyond measure for most of the 20th century by an atheist, communist dominated government. In fact, many of them had never heard of the saving power of Jesus Christ. Here was a mission field made to order for a network dedicated to covering the earth with the knowledge and presence of God.
“When we launched our first channel in Russia, we were reduced to tears as we realized that finally untold millions of people who had lived in spiritual darkness for generations would finally have access to anointed, Holy Spirit inspired television,” recalled Dr. Crouch. “Today, with multiple channels across the country, individuals and families in just about every corner of this vast nation can watch uplifting, life-changing faith and family programming 24 hours a day.”
In addition to TBN’s flagship network, the world’s most-watched faith channel, TBN is broadcasting others of its 24-hour inspirational channels to the Russian people, including the JCTV youth network, with programming geared for teens and young adults, as well as Smile of a Child, featuring inspirational, educational, and entertaining programming for kids ages two through 12.
“Not a day goes by that we don’t receive letters and e-mails from people throughout Russia who have been impacted by TBN’s broadcast presence,” said Dr. Crouch. “From individuals who have received salvation and answers to prayer while watching our programs at all hours of the day and night, to moms and dads whose kids are being changed for eternity through the JCTV and SMILE networks, Christian broadcasting is making a mighty impact on this once dark nation. We thank God for the part he has allowed us to play.”
